Terri Anderson

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Terri Anderson begins her first season as the throws coach at Bethel College. Anderson was an accomplished high school and collegiate thrower as she pursued her education.

Prior to coming to Bethel, Anderson coached at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) where she worked primarily with the Rebel throwers. During her time in Vegas, she coached the shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin.

Before UNLV, Anderson spent two years at Western Illinois University (WIU) in Macomb, Illinois where she oversaw the throwers for the Leathernecks. During her time at WIU, she coached several throwers to personal bests and scoring performances during the Summit League Conference Championships. In 2016, Anderson mentored Max Ford, who broke WIU’s javelin record (a mark that stood for nearly three decades), to a trip to the NCAA East Preliminaries. Anderson completed her graduate degree while at Western Illinois earning a Master’s of Science specializing in Sport Management in 2016.

Anderson is also a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. While attending Purdue, Anderson was a four-year letter winner, four-time NCAA First Round Qualifier, and NCAA Championship Qualifier in discus. She started her career with the Boilermakers being named the Big 10 Female Field Athlete-of-the Year in 2009, later becoming a team captain and scoring in every Conference meet, indoors and outdoors. Anderson rounded out her DI career ranking third all-time in indoor shot put, fourth in outdoor shot put, and second in the discus in the program’s record books. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Law and Society from Purdue in 2012.

Anderson is one of the top female throwers in the history of Kansas High School Track and Field. She is a two-time state champion in the discus and currently holds the class 6A state discus record. Anderson and her mother Katy (Martindale) Anderson are one of the only mother-daughter duos to win a state title in the same event. She attended and threw for Haysville-Campus High School in south Wichita.
