Dr. Drametrice Smith

Dr. Drametrice Smith is in his first year of his second stint with the program as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. With 17 years of coaching experience across professional, collegiate, and high school levels, Smith brings a deep knowledge of defensive football and player development.

Most recently, he served as the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for America Locomotiva, a professional team in Brazil’s Liga BFA. He was previously the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at the University of Fort Lauderdale (NCCAA – FL) and has held coaching roles at Edward Waters University, Lane College, Bacone College, Arkansas Baptist College, and Feather River College. His first stint at Bethel came in 2012 as a Defensive Line Coach.

Smith also brings NFL experience, having worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a Defensive Backs Coach and serving as an Executive Intern in the league’s front office. He has played a key role in developing players for professional football, including Andrew Farmer, who signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.

A former middle linebacker in the United Indoor Football League, Smith played collegiate football at the University of South Florida, earning multiple academic honors. He holds a Doctor of Education in Education and Human Sciences (2024), a Master’s in Sport Management (2014), and a Bachelor’s in Communication (2006).

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Smith is a proud father to his daughter, D'Ariya Smith, who resides in Orlando, Florida. He was adopted by Delores Williams and Devarn Flowers.

Outside of football, Smith enjoys fishing, writing spoken word music, and publishing books. He is an internationally published author, with his work “At-Risk Male Student Athletes’ Perception of Support Efforts to Enhance Retention at a Faith-Based University” gaining recognition in academic and athletic circles alike.
