WINFIELD, Kan. - The Threshers used this morning's Mid-States Classic as a prep event for the upcoming KCAC Championships. Bethel came out of it with some of their fastest times of the season, and in program history. Natalie Graber led the women with a new personal record in the 5K, while freshman Arran Kearney raised the bar on the men's side with a new program record.

The Thresher women's team was unable to field enough runners for a team score today, but their individuals faired well in the field of 93 competitors. They were led for the first time this season by Natalie Graber, who put together a new personal best in the 5K with a time of 21:23.

Aubry Grame came in soon after with a time of 22:04, and Emma Hershberger was just seconds off with a time of 22:34.

The men had a great day as a team, with no performance greater than that of Arran Kearney. The freshman had cracked the program's Top 10 for 8K results earlier in the season and was eyeing the top spot. He was able to do just that after staying amid the top pack of today's runners and finished with a time of 26:06. This time came in 29 seconds quicker than the previous mark, by alumni Julio Martinez in 2017.

With Bethel's Isaiah Bartel being a scratch from the day's race, the next quickest runner for the Threshers was Laytham Magana who came across the finish line at 28:21. Nick Morgan and Carter Funk came in one right after the other at 29:01 and 29:11, respectively. Robbie Crager was just two seconds off of a flat 30 minute time, and Evan DePriest finished at 31:35.

The Threshers finished 6th out of 14 teams, which also included NCAA DII Newman and a couple NAIA's outside of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Out of strictly the KCAC competitors, the Threshers finished fourth.
