Scott's Thirty-one Point Performance Lifts Threshers Past Columbia College 76-66

MCPHERSON, Kan. - The no. 8 ranked Bethel College Men's Basketball team continued the McPherson Classic today as they took on Columbia College. The Threshers started out slow, but figured things out in the second half to take down the Cougars 76-66.

After taking an 8-7 lead early in the opening half, the Threshers got stuck at the eight point mark and the Cougars took advantage of it. They were able to take the lead and extend it to seven points 15-8. The Threshers responded with a 7-0 run capped off with a Jordan Neely three-point basket to tie the contest.

Both teams would trade baskets and the lead for the next couple of minutes, until a Nick Bonner three-point basket gave Bethel a four point lead, their largest so far in the half. The Threshers held onto the lead for the final seven minutes and some change of the first half as they took a 37-34 lead into the break. Jaylon Scott finished the half with 17 points to lead the Threshers.

The Threshers never trailed in the second half as they were able to build their lead up to as much as 15 points after a Scott three-point basket. Despite not scoring for the final two minutes and forty second of the contest, Bethel was able to hold on for a ten point victory, 76-66, over the Cougars.

Jaylon Scott led all scorers with 31 points and 13 boards. Clifford Byrd II bounced back from a tough shooting night a day ago to finish with 10 points on 5 of 11 shooting. Nearly every Thresher that played in the victory was able to get a basket.

The Threshers will be back in action on Wednesday, November, 3rd at 7:00 PM against Park University for their home opener.
