OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team took on Mid-America Christian in the first game of the MACU Classic. The Threshers came up short against the Evangels as they dropped the contest 86-47.
The Threshers started out slow against the Evangels in the first quarter shooting just 4 of 13 from the field while MACU shot 10 of 22 to take a 21-11 lead after the opening period.
Bethel was able to keep the contest within reach heading into the intermission as they were outscored by just two points, 15-13 in the second half to trail 36-24 at the break.
The Threshers were unable to slow down the Evangels in the second half as they scored over twenty points in each of the final two quarters to take an 86-47 victory over Bethel.
Alex Bearup led the Threshers in scoring with 15 points.
Kayla Newman led Bethel on the boards pulling in 8 in the loss.
Bethel's second game of the MACU Classic will come tomorrow at noon against John Brown.
