Football Falls to NCAA Division II West Texas A&M 52-9

CANYON, Texas - The No. 10 Bethel College Thresher Football team took on NCAA Division II West Texas A&M for their final regular season contest. After trailing by one point after the opening quarter, the Threshers were unable to slow down the Buffaloes attack as they dropped the contest 52-9.

WTAMU got on the board first with a 34-yard field goal. Bethel was able to answer right back on their opening possession when Mario Quintero broke of a 54-yard touchdown run. After a missed extra point, the Threshers took a 6-3 lead. The Buffaloes answered right back with a two play 75 yard drive to take the lead back 10-6. Bethel scored on their ensuing possession to close out the first quarter when Logan DeMond made a 22-yard field goal. 

From this point on, it was all WTAMU. The Buffaloes scored 42 unanswered points after the first quarter. 

The Threshers ran the ball for 269 yards in the contest with Camryn Harrison leading the way with 71 yards on three attempts for an average of 23.7 a touch. Chantz Scurry ran the ball 13 time for 63 yards. Mario Quintero and Kayden Christiansen both ran for 61 yards a piece. 

Bethel will have to wait and see if they receive an At-Large bid into the NAIA Playoffs until the selection show tomorrow, November 14th, at 6:00 PM.
