NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel Thresher Football team will look to bounce back from a tough one touchdown loss this past weekend as they travel to Ottawa, Kan. on Saturday to take on the Ottawa Braves with kick-off set for 1:00 PM.
The Threshers (2-1, 2-1 KCAC) currently hold the premier rushing attack in the country as they average 413.3 yards per game, exactly 100 more yards per game than the second ranked team. The Bethel defense is currently holding opponents to just 53 yards per game on the ground. The Threshers come into this weekend's matchup scoring over 35 points per game while giving up just 11 points per game. The Bethel ground game is led by senior running back
Chantz Scurry who has amassed 367 yards on 44 touches in the first three games of the season. Senior quarterback
Landon Barnes follows closely behind Scurry with 318 yards on 50 attempts.
The Braves (1-3, 0-3 KCAC) come into this weekend's matchup averaging 246.8 yards per game split nearly in half with 123.8 ypg through the air and 123 ypg on the ground. They are currently giving up 415 yards per game with 215.8 on the ground and 199.3 through the air. Ottawa averages 20.8 points per game, while giving up 29.8 points per game. The Braves run game is led by freshman running back Derrick Curtis who leads the team with 211 total yards on 46 attempts. Jermaine Ziegler leads the Braves in receptions with 7 and yards with 163.
