Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Byrd II scores his 1000th point as Threshers earn season sweep of the Swedes, 69-65

LINDSBORG, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team started their second round of KCAC play looking to make their win streak nine games. After a slow shooting first half, the Threshers were able to knock down shots in the remaining 20 minutes when it mattered the most as they put the Swedes away late, 69-65.

Despite not making a three in the opening half, Bethel held onto a 28-26 lead going into the break behind 10 points from Clifford Byrd II to lead all scorers. Jaylon Scott finished the half nearing a double-double with 7 points and 9 rebounds. This was the first time the Threshers have not made a three point basket in a half all season.

Bethany came out of the break with the pressure turned up a notch as they were able to steal the lead from Bethel for the first time since the eleven minute mark in the first. The Threshers were able to weather the storm, never letting the Swede lead to get any larger than three points. Bethel obtained their largest lead of the contest with just under six minutes to go when Byrd II put BC up 61-49. The Swedes closed out the contest out scoring the Threshers 16-8, but Bethel knocked down their free throws when it mattered most to keep Bethany at an arms length.
