NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Soccer hosted the Sterling Warriors on a brisk October night inside Thresher Stadium. After trailing 1-0, the Threshers found five second half goals in the final 15 minutes as they took the contest 5-1.
The Warriors broke scoreless tie in the 32nd minute when they had a player dribble the ball 70 yards through defenders and blast one by the Thresher keeper.
In the 77th minute,
Kelsie Kreutzer got Bethel on the board with a bicycle kick off of a deflected shot from
Grace Anderson.
Grace Anderson broke the 1-1 tie in the 78th minute after a corner kick from
Sydney Brown rattled around the box before landing at the foot of Anderson who drove the ball through defenders and past the keeper.Â
With a 2-1 lead the Threshers started to pour it on when Anderson found the back of the net again. This time Grace knocked in a header after the Warrior keeper punched the ball straight up into the air.
In the 85th minute,
Lexi Eddy took a shot from 25 yards out that the keeper deflected up with enough back spin the spin back into the goal when it came down giving Bethel the 4-1 lead.Â
Lexia Vincenti capped off the big second half offensively for the Threshers when she took a shot that found the upper night in the right side of the goal, assisted by
Jazlyn Reese.
Bethel out-shot Sterling 55(23) to 1(1). Setting a new school record for shots and shots on goal.
The Threshers will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 as they take on the Tabor Bluejays in Hillsboro, Kan.Â
