BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - The Bethel College Volleyball team took on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles as they looked to move up the KCAC standings. The Threshers dropped the tightly contested five set contest 22-25, 25-6, 25-18, 20-25, 15-6.
The Threshers started off the contest hot with
Maddie Chupp serving the first seven points with six going to Bethel. Chupp started the contest with two service aces. Bethel led from wire to wire with the two teams being tied 13-13 and 14-14. The Threshers took the opening set 25-22 behind 4 kills from
Mia Loganbill.Â
Bethel cooled off drastically in the second set as the Eagles took command of the contest taking a 25-6 victory evening out the contest 1-1.Â
The Threshers fell behind 2-1 after the third set, but got back on track putting together a better set. Oklahoma Wesleyan took the game 25-18. The Threshers kept it close until the Eagles led 14-12 and went on 7-0 run to blow the game wide open.Â
With their back up against the wall, Bethel responded by forcing a decisive fifth set. The Threshers turned in 12 kills in the fourth set victory led by Loganbill who had five. Bethel forced Oklahoma Wesleyan into ten errors in the set.
Harlie Hunton recorded two block assists while
Jordan Boone and
Julie Wilhite each had a block assist as well.
The fifth set saw OKWUÂ take control of the contest as they jumped out to an early 4-1 lead forcing a Bethel timeout. The Eagles went on an 7-1 run following the timeout to force head coach
Adriana Leake to take her final timeout of the fifth set. Following the timeout both teams scored four points each, as the Eagle lead proved to be too much for the Threshers too overcome in the final set as they took the set 15-6.
Mia Loganbill recorded a game-high 16 kills in the five set loss.
Maddie Chupp and
Katey Wilhelm turned in two service aces in the contest.
Mia Roman recorded a double-double with 16 assists and 15 digs.
Katey Wilhelm had 15 digs in the contest as well.
Julie Wilhite had 5 blocks in the loss.
Bethel will be back in action as they try to get back into the win column when they take on Southwestern College on Saturday, October 29th with first serve set for 1:00 PM.
