MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team took on the Clarke University Pride. Despite a triple-double from senior
Clifford Byrd II, the Threshers fell short of the Pride 90-76.
Bethel controlled the contest early building up a six point lead at the 12 minute mark in the contest. However, Clark answered with a run of their own to take the largest lead for either side, ten points, at the 2:27 mark in the opening frame. The Pride held the six point, 44-38, lead at the intermission led by Jacob Fierst who had 16 points to lead all scorers. Byrd II led BC with 11 points at the break. The Threshers were out rebounded in the opening period 19-11.
The Pride were able to pull away from the Threshers in the second half as they shot over 55 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes led by Fierst who was 7/11. Bethel shot a respectable 44 percent from the field in the half, but were unable to cut slow down the shooters from Clarke. Fierst did a majority of the damage for the pride as he finished with 31 points on 14/24 shooting in the contest.
Clifford Byrd II led Bethel in every category as he poured in 23 points on 38 percent from the floor. He added in 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his first triple-double of the season.
The Threshers will be back on the floor on Wednesday, November 16th as they open up KCAC play against the Friends Falcons with tip-off scheduled for 8:00 PM.
