Men's Basketball completes the comeback as Mocaby scores 17 in final 10 minutes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team looked to get back to their winning ways as they took on the Avila Eagles. Despite not having their leading scorer Clifford Byrd II, Bethel was able to complete the 13 point come from behind victory taking the contest 62-58
 
The Eagles came out firing to start the contest as they scored the game's first seven points. Nick Bonner had seven of Bethel's first nine points of the game. The Threshers were able to cut the lead down to just four points, 17-13 with 11:31 remaining in the half.
 
The second half of the opening 20 minutes saw the Eagles extend their lead to as much as 13 points, 31-18, with two minutes left to play. Harper Jonas knocked home two pairs of free throws to cut Avila's lead down to 31-22 heading into the intermission. 
 
The first part of the second half saw Bethel continue to struggle putting the ball in the basket. Avila was able to get their largest lead of the contest with 10:15 left to play. From this point forward, the Threshers turned it on on both ends of the floor. 
 
Bethel outscored Avila 31-12 in the final ten minutes of play, including a 20-7 run in the final five minutes. After making just one of his first ten three point attempts, Bryant Mocaby caught fire down the stretch knocking in five of his next seven attempts to lead the Thresher comeback.
