NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Threshers hosted the Southwestern College Moundbuilders for the KCAC semifinals. Bethel held a seven point lead at the break, Southwestern took the lead early on in the second half and both teams traded leads the remainder of the half with neither leading by more than two possessions.
Jaylon Scott came up with a big time block with under 5 seconds left on the clock and knocked down two free throws to seal the game for Bethel 66-63.
Southwestern started the contest on a roll as they built a 9 point lead 15-6 to start the contest. Bethel answered back with an 11-2 run to get back into the contest tying it up 17-17. The Threshers closed out the opening half on a 5-0 run to take a seven point advantage into the intermission.
After building their lead up to 10 points after a
Harper Jonas three pointer to open the half, the Moundbuilders answered back with a 10-0 run to tie the contest at 40. From this point on, no team had a lead larger than four points. The three time KCAC Defensive Player of the Year,
Jaylon Scott, came up with a defensive stop blocking a shot from Southwestern with Bethel up by one. Scott was fouled and knocked down both free throws to put the Threshers up 66-63.
