NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Tennis teams took a road trip on Wednesday to take on two schools in Nebraska. The Threshers opened up competition against the Concordia Bulldogs before driving to take on the Doane Tigers later in the day. After defeating the Bulldogs 5-2, Bethel fell to the Tigers 4-3.
In their first match of the day, Bethel picked up just one doubles win as they gave up the point to Concordia. The Threshers were able to bounce back and take five of the six singles points for the victory.
Michael Cech won at #1 singles 4-6, 6-0, 1-0.
Milan Bucek picked up the win in the #2 singles spot with a pair of 6-1 victories.
Nolan Schrader kept the train rolling as he picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory at #3 singles.
Tomas Quercia playing #4 singles won his match 6-4, 6-3. Joaquin Plius recorded the final victory for the Threshers pickin up a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Jordan Singh was the lone Thresher to drop their singles match as he fell 8-5.
After traveling down the road to take on the Tigers of Doane, the Threshers started this contest off on the right foot sweeping the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. The Threshers would pick up just two singles wins and Bucek and Pluis would pick up two set victories over their opponents.Â
Bethel will be back on the courts on Thursday, March 24th as they travel to Winfield to take on Southwestern College and open up KCAC Conference play. at 3:00 PM.
