NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Tennis team took on John Brown and Texas A&M Texarkana this past weekend. The Threshers took down the Golden Eagles 6-1 before falling to the Eagles 5-2.
Bethel first hosted John Brown at the Ward Tennis Center. The Threshers won the doubles point with a clean sweep (6-4, 6-1, 6-2).
Michael Cech, playing in the #1 singles spot, fell to John Brown's Hudson Dick 6-2, 6-4.
Milan Bucek was able to get the Threshers back into the winning column picking up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #2 singles.
Nolan Schrader, #3 singles, won his matchup with Woody Woodring 6-1, 4-6, 10-7.
Tomas Quercia took on JBU's Carson Thoma with Quercia coming out on top with a pair of 6-2 set victories.
Joaquin Pluis won his first set 6-3 and second 6-2 to add to the Thresher point total.
Jordan Singh closed it out for Bethel pickup up the 6-3, 7-6(3) victory to give the Threshers the 6-1 victory over the Golden Eagles.
In their second contest of the weekend the Thresher men took on the Texas A&M Texarkana Eagles. This time, the Threshers were swept in doubles to give up the point to the Eagles (6-4, 6-2, 6-2). Cech picked up the first point for the Threshers with a win over TAMTU's Oviedo 6-2, 6-3 in the #1 singles spot. Bucek picked up the second of the Threshers two singles wins with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Onla. Schrader fell in #3 singles 6-4, 7-6. Quercia dropped a 6-2, 6-0 contest to Martinez. Pluis took on the Eagles De La Carrera in a matchup that he would drop 6-2, 7-5. Singh dropped his matchup with TAMTU's Munoz 6-2, 6-0.
The Threshers will be back in action this weekend as they make a road trip through Missouri to take on Missouri Baptist(3/11), Lindenwood(3/12) and William Woods(3/13).
