Volleyball goes 2-1 during OPSU Aggie Classic

GOODWELL, Okla. - The Bethel College Volleyball team opened up their 2022 campaign at Oklahoma Panhandle State for the Aggie Classic. The Threshers opened up play on Friday, August 19th against Baker University and host Oklahoma Panhandle State. They finished off the classic on Saturday Morning with a contest against Paul Quinn College.

In their first matchup of the weekend BC took on the Wildcats of Baker. Their was an issue with the stats in the first set, but the Threshers were able to pick up the 25-13 victory. Bethel won the second set 25-21 before dropping the third set 15-25. Bethel was able to put Baker away in the fourth set as they picked up the 3-1 victory with a 25-18 set win.

The first set of BC's matchup with OPSU saw some free volleyball as the Aggies took the extended set 26-24. Bethel bounced back in the second set to tie the contest 1-1 behind 5 kills from Mia Loganbill and 4 from Kylah Carter. The third set was another tough contest for both sides with the Aggies coming out on top 27-25 to put them up 2-1. With the Threshers looking to force a decisive fifth set, OPSU would jump out to a quick 10-4 lead. The Aggies were able to hold off a late run by Bethel as they took the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.

In their third and final match of the Aggie Classic, the Threshers took on Paul Quinn College. After dropping the first set 25-23, Bethel turned it on. Just like their match against OPSU, Loganbill and Carter kicked it in gear as BC took the set 25-22 as the pair combined for 13 kills. The third set saw Bethel take advantage of Paul Quinn's miscues as they forced 13 errors and recorded 4 service aces. The Threshers jumped out to an early advantage after scoring seven straight points to take a 9-1 lead. Bethel didn't look back as they rolled past Paul Quinn in the set taking a 25-12 set victory and the match 3-1.

The Threshers will be back in action on Tuesday, August 23rd for their home opener as they host a triangular with Cottey College (4PM) and Central Christian College (8 PM). Cottey and Central Christian will play a match at 6 PM.
