WICHITA, Kan. - The #23 ranked Bethel College Threshers came out victorious in their week two matchup, beating the Friends University Falcons by a score of 28-16.
DJ Ciers was the player of the game for Bethel, finishing the day with 139 yards rushing and 3 rushing touchdowns.
Friends University opened up the game by scoring 10 unanswered points in the first quarter. Falcons kicker Bobby Schmidt put them ahead less than 3 minutes into the contest. Kaden Rigsby then punched the ball into the end zone on a 39-yard rush with two minutes left in the quarter, putting the Falcons up 10-0.
The Thresher defense was able to force a fumble in the waning minutes of the opening half. Quarterback
DJ Ciers took advantage, getting the Threshers on the board with a 20-yard rushing touchdown while tiptoeing the sideline for the final five yards before diving for the pylon. Bethel trailed Friends 10-7 heading into the intermission.
Ciers found the end zone two more times in the third quarter. The first touchdown came with just over five minutes in the half. His second came when he found a crease in the defense and took the ball to the house from 42-yards out. The pair of rushing touchdowns would put the Threshers up 21-10 going into the fourth.
Falcons running back Zach Dressler found the end zone from 63-yards cutting the lead down 21-16 after the teams failed two-point conversion attempt.
Quentin Tarantino himself couldn't have written a better scripted ending to the contest than the way it played out. Reigning KCAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-American Linebacker
Josh Seabolt sealed the game with 54 seconds to play. The Falcon's tried to pass the ball from their own end zone when Seabolt batted the ball in the air, caught it and ran into the end zone. The Threshers were able to come out with the 28-16 victory.

Chantz Scurry, the Threshers second leading scorer, finished the game with 73 yards on the ground.
Kade Miller led the Threshers defense, finishing the game with 10 total tackles including timely tackles for losses down the stretch. Jairo Castillo Jr,
Josh Seabolt, and
Tate Seabolt each finished with 7 tackles respectively.
Bethel will return to action this Saturday, September 17th, as they travel to Salina to take on Kansas Wesleyan at 7:00 PM.
