NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball team hosted York for the first time since the school became a university. The Threshers won the first and third set handedly, while squeaking out a second set victory on their way to a 3-0 sweep of the Panthers giving BC their ninth win in their last ten matches.
The first set saw the Threshers record 16 kills to the Panthers 7.
Mia Loganbill led the way in the set for the Thresher offense with 5 kills.
Darian Lowden added in 4 of her own. The Bethel defense was led by
Maddie Chupp who turned in 9 digs in the opening frame. Bethel forced 11 York errors in the set as BC recorded a 25-16 set victory.
York was able to control the pace early on in the second set as they held on to a 10-7 lead. Bethel rallied back tying it up at 10 before the Panthers attempted to pull away again. Following a Bethel timeout with York leading 14-10, BC rattled off seven straight points behind the serving of Chupp and YU errors to force a Panther timeout. York scored the first four points out of the timeout to take the lead back. Both teams traded points until being tied at 20. From this point on Bethel scored five of the final seven points with two kills from Loganbill, a kill from
Jordan Boone and three Panther errors.Â
Bethel came out ready to put York away in the third set scoring the first four points. The Threshers opened up a 20-8 lead with an 12-3 run in the middle of the set. During the Threshers run, the Panthers committed seven errors while Boone, Lowden,Â

Landree Merriman all recorded kills. Facing match point, York made one last push to extend the contest scoring six unanswered points before Bethel was able to close out the set 25-17, completing the sweep.
Mia Loganbill led the Thresher attack with 12 kills in the win.
Mia Roman was a dig away from a double-double as she recorded 19 assists and 9 digs.
Katey Wilhelm led the Bethel defense as she recorded 18 digs in the sweep.Â
The Threshers will be back in action as they host Avila in a KCAC Conference matchup with first serve slated for 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 1st.
