NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The #23 ranked Bethel Threshers will be matching up against the Friends University Falcons in Adair-Austin Stadium on Saturday, September 10th at 7:00 pm.
Bethel is coming off a one-point victory over the McPherson Bulldogs, 14-13, and the Falcons are coming off a 70-0 loss at the hands of Kansas Wesleyan.
The Threshers have won the previous three matchups against Friends University. Bethel got the better of the Falcons last season, winning 59-3.
In last week's matchup against Kansas Wesleyan, the Falcons wouldn't have a quarterback finish the day with double-digit passing yards. Zach Dressler led the Falcons in rushing with 75 yards on 20 carries. Aaron Jamison-Johnson led the Falcons defense in tackles with 9, while also coming down with an interception. The defensive unit for Friends gave up 562 total yards in the 70-point loss.
In the Threshers' week 1 matchup against McPherson, Bethel's top performer was quarterback DJ Ciers, who made magic happen in the second half to put the Bulldogs to bed. Ciers finished the night with 82 yards passing and 39 rushing yards, leading the team in both categories.
The Bethel defense gave up 227 total yards against McPherson and just 10 total yards in the second half. Josh Seabolt finished the game against the Bulldogs with 11 total tackles to lead the team.
This will be Bethel's first match-up with their former coaching staff that left last fall after winning back-to-back KCAC Conference Championships. You can purchase tickets for this weekend's matchup inside Adair-Austin Stadium on the Friends Athletics website or watch live on the KCAC network.
