NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - In their final home regular season contest, the Bethel College men's soccer team showed high octane offensive abilities in a 7-3 victory over Avila.
The Threshers scored four times in the opening half on their way to holding a 4-0 lead at the intermission.
Filip Maksimovic got the scoring started in the 7th minute, his 21st of the season.
Just seven minutes later,
Kevin Applewhite found the back of the net, assisted by
Aleksa Morovic.Â
Adalsteinn Kristinsson got in on the scoring ten minutes later when Maksimovic found him for the goal and a 3-0 lead.
Aleksa Oborina scored the Threshers fourth goal of the opening 45 minutes in the 36th, unassisted.
The Eagles came out of the break and cut the Threshers lead in half within the first 17 minutes of the half.Â
Maksimovic and Oborina answered back nearly instantly putting the Threshers back up by four goals, 6-2.
Avila added in another goal in the 68th minute making the score 6-3.
In the 89th minute,
Louis Etienne capped the scoring after finding the back of the net on a penalty kick opportunity.
The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, November 3rd for the first round of the KCAC Tournament. Bethel will take on the Friends Falcons in Wichita, Kan.
