NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College men's basketball team picked up their first KCAC Conference victory over Bethany 82-59 as they move to 1-1 in KCAC play.
Bethel led from the jump as
Harper Jonas knocked down one of his game high four made three point baskets to get the scoring started. The Threshers led by as much as eight points in the half as they took a five point advantage into the intermission.
Despite shooting just over 46% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, the Threshers made seven of their 13 three point attempts shooting over 53% from behind the arc.
Bethel's hot shooting continued as they shot over 58% from the floor and made five more threes in the final frame. The shining point of the second half, however, came on the other end of the floor as Bethel's defense held the Swedes to just 27 points on 34% shooting from the floor and 10% from three point range. Bethel also turned Bethany over 12 times in the final 20 minutes.

Despite struggling in their KCAC opener to limit the turnovers, Bethel bounced back by taking better care of the ball recording nearly ten less turnovers against the Swedes than they did McPherson.

Bethel was out rebounded by Bethany, 35-34, pulling in just five offensive boards.
Nine Threshers scored in the win, six in double figures, led by
Jalyn Todd with 15 points.
Carmelo Yakubu finished with 14 points, while
Harper Jonas added in 13,
Keyaun Hoskin and
Nick Bonner finished with 11 and
Eli Wiseman had 10.
Hoskin finished just two rebounds shy of a triple-double as he recorded 11 assists and 8 rebounds to go along with his 11 points.
Todd finished the game shooting 6 of 8 from the floor including a perfect 3 of 3 from deep.
Jonas finished 4 of 5 from the field, all coming behind the three point arc.
