YORK, Neb. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team led for the entirety of the second half as they cruised to the seven point, 80-73, victory over the York Panthers.
The Panthers started the game off scoring the first six points to force a Bethel timeout.
Following the timeout, Bethel made a run to tie the contest at 10. The Threshers only trailed one more time in the half, by one point at the 7:20 mark following a Panther offensive rebound put back.
Back to back three pointers from
Clifford Byrd II and
Jalyn Todd gave Bethel the lead back, a lead they would not relinquish again. The Threshers held an eight point, 39-31 lead at the break behind nine points from Byrd II and
Bryant Mocaby and eight from
Javen Hutton.
Bethel pushed their lead to eight points after their first possession of the opening half before the Panthers started slowly cutting into the lead.Â
Tied at 46 after a York 6-0 run, Bethel went on a run of their own to take the largest lead for either side as they went on a 10-1 run to lead 56-47.Â
York made multiple rallies to cut into the Bethel lead, but were unsuccessful in getting it any closer than three points as the Threshers were able to keep them at an arms length for the remainder of the contest.
