NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - Following Bethel's 90-73 victory over Sterling and Southwestern's 98-73 victory over #8 Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Threshers are set to square off with the Moundbuilders at 6:00 PM inside Hartman Arena on Monday. This is Bethel's third straight appearance in the Championship Monday contest.
Bethel dropped their first matchup with Southwestern 90-79 in Winfield on January 4th. At the time, SWC was the sixth ranked team in the NAIA.
The Threshers and Moundbuilders squared off again just eleven days ago. Bethel was able to earn the season split as they pulled out the 79-71 upset of the then #20 ranked Southwestern. Four Threshers scored in double figures in the victory as
Jared Richardson and
Christion Whitaker notched career scoring nights.
After earning the season split with the Southwestern, that meant Bethel earned the three seed in the conference tournament with their late January victory over #2 Oklahoma Wesleyan being the tiebreaker.
