NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Flag Football team hosted Midland University for their first home game in program history. The Threshers fell in the contest 40-0 but showed signs of improvement from their opening two contests.
The Bethel defense was able to stand tall on the Warriors first two possessions holding them to one first down and keeping them out of the end zone.
Midland broke the scoreless tie late in the opening quarter as they punched the ball in with a 4 yard pass completion. Bethel broke up the pass attempt on the extra point try.
The Warriors tacked on two more touchdowns in the second quarter as they lead the Threshers 20-0 after the first 24 minutes of play.
Bethel was able to put a halt to Midlands opening drive of the third quarter when
Mikinzie Harkins picked off the Warriors pass.
After the Threshers turned the ball over on downs, the Warriors used a Bethel penalty to extend their drive that would end up with them punching through their fourth touchdown of the afternoon.
Bethel once again broke up Midlands extra point conversion attempt as they trailed 26-0.
The Warriors scored on their next two possessions to extend their lead to 40-0, the eventual final.Â
Late in the fourth quarter, following a Bethel punt, Harkins picked up her second interception of the afternoon deep in their own territory.
