NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season in their home opener as they took down Ecclesia 6-1.
Freshman
Filip Maksimovic led the Thresher attack as he netted three goals for his first career hat trick. Maksimovic scored one goal in the first half, and two in the second half.
The Threshers took a 2-0 lead into the intermission as
Jaime Guardado added in a first half goal, assisted by Maksimovic.Â
After Maksimovic's two second half goals,
Francisco Soto and
Kevin Applewhite each found the back of the net with unassisted goals.
In the 78th minute, with Bethel up 6-0, Ecclesia finally got on the board.
Bethel outshot Eccelsia 22 to 9 with 9 shots coming on goal for the Threshers compared to the Lions 5.Â
The Threshers will be back in action on Wednesday, August 30th as they host Central Christian with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 PM.
