LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - In a high-octane clash, the Bethel Threshers Football team squared off against the Saint Mary Spires. When the final whistle blew, it was the Threshers who emerged victorious, dominating their opponents in a game that showcased their prowess on both sides of the ball.
The scoreboard told the story of Bethel's dominance throughout the game, with a final score of 45-22 in favor of the Threshers. Bethel's relentless offense, coupled with a stout defense, proved too much for the Spires to handle.
The first quarter set the tone for the game, with both teams trading field goals. Bethel's DJ Ciers was instrumental in driving his team down the field all game, and the quarter ended with the score knotted at 3-3.
However, the Threshers unleashed their offensive firepower in the second quarter, racking up an impressive 21 points as Ciers ran for two touchdowns and threw for another.
The third quarter saw a valiant effort from the Spires, as they managed to score six points. But Bethel wasn't about to let their lead slip away.
Ciers rushed for an astounding 212 yards while punching in three touchdowns on the ground. He threw for 56 yards and two touchdowns.
Trevon Madison and Jacob Reyes both made crucial receptions, showcasing their incredible athleticism. Madison had a 31-yard touchdown reception and Reyes' had 25-yard touchdown catches.
On the defensive side of the ball, Tate Seabolt was a standout performer for the Threshers. Seabolt led the team with eight tackles, two of which were for a loss, including a critical sack for a 10-yard loss. His tenacity and ability to disrupt the Spires' offense played a pivotal role in Bethel's victory. Brenden Sanders added in an interception that he returned for 30-yards.Â
In the end, the Threshers showcased their all-around talent, amassing a total of 405 yards while holding the Spires to just 278 total yards. The Threshers demonstrated their resilience and determination, excelling in all facets of the game.
With the victory, the Bethel College Threshers are off to a promising start to the season, winning their first two contests. Bethel will be back in action on Saturday, September 9th as they host the Ottawa Braves for a 6:00 PM kickoff.
