The Bethel College men's soccer team secured a 1-1 draw against Kansas Wesleyan, thanks to a late goal by Filip Maksimovic. The Threshers showed grit throughout the match, bouncing back from a first-half deficit to earn a crucial point in KCAC play.
First Half: Kansas Wesleyan Strikes First
Kansas Wesleyan took the lead in the 31st minute with a goal, putting Bethel on the back foot. Bethel goalkeeper Kazimir Kromwijk kept the team in the game with multiple saves, including a key stop in the 25th minute to keep the score within reach. Despite several attempts, including shots by FIlip Maksimovic and Panagiotis Charalambous, Bethel went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Second Half: Maksimovic ties it
Bethel came out in the second half determined to find an equalizer. Lucas Pardo had several attempts on goal, but it was in the 79th minute that the breakthrough came. Maksimovic netted a crucial goal, assisted by Gabriel Okita, to level the score at 1-1. Both teams pushed for a late winner, but Bethel's defense held firm, with Kromwijk making another key save in the 85th minute to preserve the draw. Bethel had a chance to win the match in the final seconds, but the ball went wide left.
Bethel moves forward with momentum as they prepare for their next conference matchup this Saturday at home against Saint Mary.?
