NORTH NEWTON, Kan.—Kendall Locke delivered a pair of clutch plays in the final moments, hitting a game-tying step-back three-pointer with three seconds remaining and following it with the game-winning basket at the buzzer to lift Bethel College to a dramatic 68-66 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at Thresher Gym.
Locke finished with a double-double, scoring 20 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out a game-high seven assists. Carley Robb also poured in 20 points, hitting six three-pointers, while Madyson McKinzie anchored the defense with 10 rebounds and added nine points.
How It Happened
Bethel started strong, using hot shooting in the first half to build a 36-20 lead by halftime. However, Oklahoma Wesleyan stormed back in the second half, outscoring Bethel 46-32 as the game came down to the final seconds.
With 15 seconds left and the Threshers trailing by three, Locke calmly stepped back and drained a deep three-pointer to tie the game at 66-66. After an Oklahoma Wesleyan turnover on the ensuing possession, Locke struck again, driving through the lane and sinking the game-winner as the clock expired, sending the Thresher faithful into a frenzy.
