NORTH NEWTON, Kan. (December 3, 2024) — Bethel College announces the resignation of Daylon Markham as head football coach. Coach Markham stepped into the role as interim head coach in July 2024 following the departure of AB Stokes and quickly embraced the challenge of leading the program through a transitional period.
Markham retained a strong core of incoming athletes and led the Threshers to a 5-6 record in the 2024 season. A veteran of the Bethel football program, he began his tenure during the transformative years under former head coach Terry Harrison, progressing from assistant coach to defensive coordinator and ultimately to head coach.
"I appreciate everything Coach Markham did this year for our program and school and his loyalty to Bethel College," said Bethel Athletic Director Tim Swartzendruber. "Coach has been here from the time Coach Terry Harrison first arrived and turned the Bethel program around. He moved up from assistant coach to defensive coordinator to head coach. We will miss Coach (Markham), and wish him the best."
Reflecting on his time at Bethel, Markham expressed gratitude and optimism for the program's future. "I am thankful for the opportunity to lead this football program," said Markham. "I learned a lot this year and have enjoyed my time at Bethel College."
Bethel College will begin the search for its next head football coach.
