SALINA, Kan. - The Bethel College men's tennis team took on the No. 3 seeded Ottawa Braves in the KCAC semifinals for a birth to the NAIA National Tournament. The Threshers fell 4-2 in the semifinal.
The Threshers dropped the first doubles match to finish as
Rodrigo Sanchez and
Jonah Bergeron fell 6-1 at #3.
Petr Kollar and
Tomas Quercia won their match 6-2 at #2 and
Milan Bucek and
Michael Cech won their match 6-3 at #1 giving BC the doubles point to start the contest.
Quercia finished his match first at #3 as he fell 6-0, 6-1. Bucek finished second as he won 6-4, 6-1 giving Bethel the early 2-1 advantage. Cech found himself on the wrong side of a pair of 6-4 sets dropping his match at #2 singles. After losing the first set 6-4, Kollar forced a third set with a 7-5 victory in the second before falling 6-4 in the third. Bergeron also lost his first set 6-4 at #6 before forcing a third with a 6-3 second set victory. Unfortunately for the Threshers, he lost the third 6-4 clinching the match for the Braves. Sanchez won his first set 6-2, lost the second 6-4 and was leading 5-3 in the third when the match concluded.
This finished off the season for the Thresher men as they ended with a 15-5 overall record and a 10-1 record in KCAC play.
