NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel College's Jorge Batista and Billy Haoda are headed to the national stage. The pair earned one of the at-large spots in the 16-team NAIA men's doubles draw at the 2026 ITA Cup.
They earned the bid by reaching the semifinals of the ITA Central Regional in Salina, Kan.
Their reward is a big opening match. Batista and Haoda open against the tournament's No. 1 seeds, Serafin Zund and Mario Monclus Martin of Tennessee Wesleyan. The match is set for Thursday, Oct. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
On Friday, Oct. 16, the Threshers will play either Missouri Baptist's Ruslan Anurev and Samuel Sanchez or Huntington's Julian Tantera and Francisco Javier Lopez Real. Every team is guaranteed at least three matches, since the back draw feeds into a compass draw. The bracket runs through Saturday, Oct. 17.
The ITA Cup, formerly the Small College Nationals, is the only national singles and doubles championship for NAIA and NCAA Division II. Players qualify through more than 60 regional tournaments held across the country each fall. Each division's doubles draw has 16 teams: eight regional champions and eight at-large selections.
