KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Bethel College men's tennis players
Petr Kollar and
Jorge Batista earned national recognition after both were named to the NAIA Men's Tennis Third Team All-American list following standout seasons for the Threshers.
Kollar, competing primarily at No. 2 singles, put together one of the most consistent seasons in the region. The senior finished the year with a 14-5 singles record including 9 straight wins from March 14
th to April 18
th. He was dominant in conference play, posting a perfect 5-0 record while helping lead Bethel to a 40-2 conference singles mark as a team.
In doubles competition, Kollar was equally impressive. Partnering primarily with
Zaidh Zihar in the No. 1 position, the duo finished 17-3 overall and 6-1 in conference matches. Kollar ended the season with a 19-3 overall doubles record.
Batista earned his All-American honor after excelling at the No. 1 singles position throughout the season. He finished with a 16-6 overall singles record and went 6-1 in conference play while facing opponents' top players every match.
The sophomore also starred in doubles play, compiling a 16-3 doubles record overall and an undefeated 7-0 mark in conference competition. Batista and
Billy Haoda formed one of the top doubles pairings in the conference, finishing 14-3 at the No.2 position together and riding a ten-match winning streak during the season.
The recognition caps another historic year for Bethel men's tennis, which finished the season with a 19-4 team record while going a perfect 12-0 in KCAC play while earning both the KCAC regular season and KCAC Tournament Championships.
