Hastings, Neb. - Thresher Volleyball finishes the weekend strong over William Woods and Central Christian despite early loss to Hastings.
Game 1 vs. Hastings (1-3)
The Bethel Threshers faced off against Hastings in a closely contested match but ultimately fell in four sets (25-20, 16-25, 16-25, 20-25). Despite a strong start with a first-set victory, Bethel couldn't maintain the momentum as Hastings won the final three sets to win the match.
Cameron Offerle led Bethel with 14 kills, while Darla Crow contributed 10 kills and 11 points. Jordan Boone added 7 kills and 12 points, including 3 service aces. The second set saw Hastings make a crucial run, winning 8 out of the last 9 points, turning the tide of the match in their favor.
Game 2 vs. William Woods (3-0)
In the second game of the day, Bethel bounced back with a commanding straight-set victory over William Woods (24-19, 25-15, 25-18). Bethel's attack was well-balanced, with Laci Ownbey leading the way with 10 kills and 12 points, followed by Cameron Offerle with 9 kills. The Threshers improved their attacking efficiency in each set, finishing with a team hitting percentage of .227.
Bethel's defense was solid, registering 12 total blocks, while also holding William Woods to a .029 hitting percentage. The Threshers made significant runs in each set, including a dominant 14-3 run to secure the second set.Â
Game 3 vs. Central Christian (3-0)
Bethel continued their strong performance with a decisive victory over Central Christian, sweeping the match in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-11). Laci Ownbey was dominant with 15 kills and a .423 hitting percentage, leading the Threshers' offense. Cameron Offerle added 9 kills, while Brooke Russell and Abby Koontz made significant contributions with their serving and defensive efforts.
Bethel's relentless pressure was evident in the third set, where they jumped to an 11-1 lead, showcasing their control over the match. The Threshers' defense held Central Christian to a negative hitting percentage (-.064) across the match, securing Bethel's sixth win of the season and bringing their record to 5-2 on the season.
