Peru, Neb - Bethel College volleyball had a dominant day on the court on September 14, 2024, sweeping both William Penn and Peru State in a doubleheader at Peru, Nebraska. With these wins, Bethel improves to 11-5 on the season.
Bethel vs. William Penn
In the first match of the day, Bethel took on William Penn and cruised to a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-14, 25-13). Bethel's offense was led by Laci Ownbey, who had 10 kills on a .350 hitting percentage, while Kylah Carter added 7 kills at a .375 clip. Setter Mia Roman was efficient with 23 assists and contributed defensively with 4 digs. Bethel held William Penn to a negative hitting percentage (-.037) over the course of the match, forcing 29 errors. Darla Crow and Jordan Boone were great at the net, combining for 4 block assists and 9.5 points each.
Bethel vs. Peru State
The second match of the day saw Bethel take on host Peru State, and once again, the Threshers dominated, winning in straight sets (25-14, 25-8, 25-14). Bethel's offense clicked, posting a team hitting percentage of .337, led by Laci Ownbey with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Cameron Offerle added 8 kills, and Darla Crow contributed 7 kills on a stellar .462 hitting percentage. The Threshers limited Peru State to a .000 hitting percentage, with Peru State committing 19 errors. Abby Koontz delivered 5 service aces, and Bethel racked up 50 total digs, with contributions from Koontz (8 digs) and Brooke Russell (6 digs). Setter Mia Roman was again a standout with 30 assists.
