Men's Basketball Rolls Ottawa at Home

NORTH NEWTON, Kan.—The Bethel College men's basketball team put on an offensive clinic Saturday evening, cruising to a 95-75 victory over Ottawa University in Thresher Gym. With the win, the Threshers improve to 12-6 overall and 8-4 in KCAC play.

Carmelo Yakubu led the charge for Bethel with a game-high 28 points, shooting an impressive 11-of-16 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Harper Jonas added 15 points, hitting a perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the arc, while Cade Kittrell contributed 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.

How It Happened

The Threshers came out firing, shooting 70.4% from the field in the first half to build a commanding 48-37 halftime lead. Yakubu and Jonas were instrumental in the early scoring surge, combining for 27 points in the opening frame.

Bethel maintained their dominance in the second half, extending the lead to as much as 20 points. The Threshers' offense continued to click, finishing the game shooting 65.5% from the field and 55.6% from three-point range.

Defensively, Bethel held Ottawa to 50.9% shooting and forced 13 turnovers, converting them into 21 points. The Threshers also controlled the boards, finishing with a slight 26-25 rebounding edge.
