Kansas City, Mo. — The Bethel women's soccer team battled through a back-and-forth match Saturday afternoon, earning a 2–2 draw against Avila University.
Avila opened the scoring in the 6th minute, but Bethel responded just before halftime when Yuly Torres converted a pass from Madison Davis to level the score at 1–1. After the Eagles regained the lead midway through the second half, the Threshers found a late equalizer when Taylor Andrew struck in the 89th minute to secure the result.
Bethel's defense held firm in the closing minutes, led by goalkeeper Cadence McMenamy, who made multiple stops to preserve the draw. The Threshers recorded 14 total shots and controlled possession for much of the second half.
With the result, Bethel moves to 2–8–3 overall and 2–5–1 in conference play. The Threshers return home Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. to take on McPherson College at Thresher Stadium.
