YORK, Neb.—The Bethel College men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season in dominant fashion, cruising to a 95-71 victory over York University on Saturday night. With the win, the Threshers (20-8, 16-6 KCAC) secured the fourth seed in the KCAC Tournament and will host Ottawa University on Wednesday at 7 PM in Thresher Gym.
Bethel entered the game with a chance to move up in the standings, but with Saint Mary's win over Southwestern earlier in the day, the Threshers officially finish as the No. 4 seed heading into the postseason.
How It Happened
Bethel came out firing, taking a 51-36 lead at halftime thanks to Carmelo Yakubu's 20-point, six-assist effort. Harper Jonas knocked down five three-pointers en route to 15 points, while Trenton Patterson added 14 points off the bench.
The Threshers kept their foot on the gas in the second half, shooting 53.7% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range to maintain their lead. Defensively, they held York to just 36.5% shooting and won the rebounding battle 33-25. They also held York to just 9 points in the final 11:37.
