NORTH NEWTON, Kan.—The Bethel College men's basketball team came out firing on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, securing a dominant 97-73 victory over Avila University at Thresher Gym. The Threshers improved to 17-7 overall and 13-5 in KCAC play, maintaining their position as one of the top teams in the conference.
Eli Wiseman led the Threshers with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including six three-pointers. Carter Reid added 15 points, while Carmelo Yakubu and Nick Bonner each contributed eight points, helping Bethel control the game from start to finish.
How It Happened
The Threshers wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a commanding 54-30 lead at halftime. Bethel shot an impressive 51.4% from the field in the opening half, including 50% from beyond the arc.
Bethel lead by as much as 35 in the 2nd half. Bethel finished the game shooting 50.0% overall, including a scorching 48.6% from three-point range.
The Threshers' defense also played a crucial role, forcing 12 Avila turnovers and limiting them to just 42.6% shooting for the game.
