Softball Powers Through HOSEA Red Dirt Classic with Two Wins and Strong Performances

Game 1: Bethel 0, Mid-America Christian 9
Bethel struggled in their opening game against Mid-America Christian, losing 9-0. The Threshers could only muster 1 hit, while Mid-America Christian capitalized on early runs and added 5 in the fourth inning. Despite the tough loss, the defense made some key plays. E. Demartino and A. Ramirez combined for the pitching duties but couldn't stop Mid-America Christian's offense.

Key Performances:

  • Bethel: K. Linnebur (1-for-1, walk)
  • Mid-America Christian: K. Vizcaya (2-for-2, 2 RBIs), E. Campbell (1-for-3, 2 RBIs)

Game 2: Bethel 0, Nelson 8
Bethel fell 8-0 to Nelson in this second game. Nelson took an early lead in the second inning with a 4-run rally. Despite having several runners on base, Bethel couldn't generate enough offense, and Nelson's pitching held them to only 3 hits. Nelson continued their offensive push through the game, scoring 4 more runs in the fifth inning. Bethel's defense struggled to stop the onslaught, with several key hits from Nelson piling on the runs.

Key Performances:

  • Bethel: K. Young (1-for-2), K. Sandoval (1-for-2)
  • Nelson: M. Knei (3-for-4, 3 RBIs), A. Colema (3-for-3, 2 RBIs)

Game 3: Bethel 13, Langston 3
Bethel bounced back in a big way, defeating Langston 13-3. The Threshers exploded for 9 runs in the fourth inning, led by a 2-run homer from K. Linnebur. A. Rushing also delivered a key 2-RBI double, and S. Jensen had a strong game with 2 RBIs. E. Killingsworth pitched 5 strong innings to secure the win. Bethel's offense was too much for Langston to handle, and the game ended in a commanding win for the Threshers.

Key Performances:

  • Bethel: K. Sandoval (3-for-4, 3 runs), K. Linnebur (1-for-4, HR, 3 RBIs)
  • Langston: J. Pruitt (1-for-2, 1 RBI)

Game 4: Bethel 11, Haskell 4
Bethel capped off the day with an 11-4 victory over Haskell. The Threshers scored 5 runs in the second inning and continued to dominate. A. Bodine and S. Jensen both had 3 RBIs in the game, while Bethel's pitching kept Haskell's offense in check. Haskell made a late push, but Bethel answered with consistent offense and timely defense.

  • Haskell: M. Merritt (1-for-3, 1 RBI)
