Women's Tennis Beats No. 25 Morningside in Gritty Home Win

North Newton, Kan. --- The Bethel College women's tennis team pulled off an impressive 4-3 upset over No. 25 Morningside on Thursday at the Ward Tennis Center. Fueled by dominant doubles play and clutch performances in singles, the Threshers secured a statement win against a nationally ranked opponent.

Bethel came out strong in doubles, claiming victories at the top two spots. The duo of Daniela Herrera and Daniela Casique rolled to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Grace Dawes and Patty Huerta matched the effort with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Despite dropping No. 3 doubles, Bethel carried the momentum into singles play.

Herrera delivered the highlight of the match, taking down the No. 7 ranked player in the country in dominant fashion, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Casique showed resilience, battling back from a first-set loss to earn a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2 singles. The deciding point came from Huerta at No. 5 singles, where she sealed the win for the Threshers with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 performance.

With this victory, Bethel continues to establish itself as a force to be reckoned with.

Next Up

Bethel will travel to Leavenworth on Saturday to take on the Spires of Saint Mary.
