FULTON, Mo.—The Bethel College flag football team faced a tough test on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 61-0 to William Woods University. The Threshers battled throughout the game but were unable to slow down a high-powered William Woods offense.
How It Happened
William Woods struck early, scoring on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead. The Threshers looked to respond but struggled to move the ball against a strong defensive front, managing only five first downs throughout the game.
By halftime, William Woods had extended their lead to 34-0, using a balanced passing attack to keep Bethel's defense off-balance. Despite Bethel's efforts to contain them, the Owls continued to capitalize on short fields and quick drives.
The second half saw much of the same, as Bethel's offense struggled to generate momentum. Quarterback Kyndall Longman completed 7-of-21 passes for 45 yards, while Tatiana McCollum led the rushing attack with 15 yards on six carries.
Defensive Standouts
Despite the tough outing, Bethel's defense had several key contributors. Xavia Mann led the Threshers with seven tackles, while Amber Clawson and Gabriella Stone each recorded four stops.
Defensive back Lydia Harper and Clawson each broke up a pass, providing bright spots in the secondary.
