Softball Drops Two to Sterling in Conference Doubleheader

North Newton, Kan. — Bethel College (7-8, 3-3 KCAC) struggled to find offensive momentum against Sterling College (17-9, 4-2 KCAC), dropping both games of Monday's doubleheader at Wedel Field.

Game 1: Sterling 3, Bethel 1

Pitchers of Record

Win: MacKenzie Vi (1-0)
Loss: Emma Killingsworth (2-3)
Save: None

Sterling broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Aiyana Campos. The Warriors added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh, capitalizing on timely hitting and a Bethel error.

The Threshers' lone run came in the sixth inning when Cassie Albin scored on a passed ball after reaching on a fielder's choice. Bethel managed just four hits in the contest, with Ella Caudill leading the way with a pair of singles.

Killingsworth tossed four innings, allowing one run on six hits, while Gracie Higgins and Emily Demartino combined for three innings of relief.

Game 2: Sterling 12, Bethel 1 (5 Inn.)

Pitchers of Record

Win: Allie Olivarria
Loss: Kayla Richardson
Save: None

Sterling wasted no time in game two, putting up four runs in the first inning and never looking back. Kelly Hirlas' four-RBI performance, along with extra-base hits from Desiree Perales and Madilynn Green, powered the Warriors' offense.

Bethel's only run came in the third inning when Kailey Sandoval's sacrifice fly brought home Kenzi Young. The Threshers mustered just three hits in the game, struggling against Olivar's efficient pitching.

Richardson took the loss after allowing four runs in the first inning. Gracie Higgins, Emily Demartino, and Emma Killingsworth all saw time in the circle, but Sterling's offense continued to apply pressure throughout the game.
