North Newton, Kan. — Bethel College (8-15, 4-8 KCAC) came up short in both games of a home doubleheader against Ottawa University (18-16, 8-4 KCAC) on Saturday at Wedel Field. The Braves took game one 7-1 and followed it with an 11-2 run-rule victory in game two.

Ottawa struck for two runs in the first and never looked back, scoring in five different innings. A two-run homer by Emma Melvin in the fifth pushed the Braves' lead to 6-1.
Bethel's lone run came in the second inning when Sadie Jensen scored on an RBI single from Kaylee Linnebur. The Threshers collected six hits but couldn't mount a comeback as they left runners on base in five innings.
Killingsworth pitched four innings before giving way to Gracie Higgins, who threw the final three frames.

Ottawa jumped out quickly again, scoring six runs in the first three innings and pulling away with a four-run sixth. Davanie Medina's two-run triple and Addison Spencer's two-RBI double helped power the Braves' 13-hit effort.
Bethel's only scoring came in the fourth when Sadie Jensen and Hailey Bethel crossed the plate on a two-run single from Ella Caudill.
Kayla Richardson started and took the loss, while Emily Demartino pitched 1.2 innings of relief.
