Six Threshers Earn KCAC Honors as Johnson Named Coach of the Year

Wichita, Kan. - The Bethel College men's tennis team capped off a remarkable 2025 season with a 16-4 overall record and a 10-1 mark in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play. Their dominance on the court was reflected in the postseason honors, with five players recognized by the conference and head coach Gabe Johnson earning KCAC Coach of the Year.


Petr Kollar – First Team All-KCAC
Junior Petr Kollar was a steady force for the Threshers and earned First Team All-KCAC honors. Competing primarily at the No. 2 singles position, Kollar posted a 12-5 singles record, including a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. In doubles, Kollar formed one of the league's top duos with freshman Zaidh Zihar, finishing 14-3 overall and 7-2 in KCAC action. His consistent play and experience helped anchor Bethel's lineup all season.


Billy Haoda – Second Team All-KCAC
Freshman Billy Haoda made a massive impact in his debut season, earning a spot on the Second Team All-KCAC. Haoda went an outstanding 15-1 in singles, highlighted by a 9-0 conference record. In doubles, he compiled a 14-6 record, finding success with multiple partners including James Menard. Haoda enters his sophomore season as one of the top young talents in the KCAC.


Jorge Batista – Honorable Mention All-KCAC
Freshman Jorge Batista picked up Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors after contributing both in singles and doubles play. He totaled 7 singles wins on the year and was part of Bethel's most frequently used doubles pair alongside Jonah Bergeron, with the duo earning 11 victories and 6 in conference. Batista's energy and versatility were vital during tight conference matches.


Zaidh Zihar – Honorable Mention All-KCAC
Another standout freshman, Zaidh Zihar earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC following a strong campaign that saw him compile a 14-5 singles record, including 7-3 in the KCAC. Zihar also shined in doubles, especially with Kollar, where the tandem finished with a 14-3 mark, showcasing strong chemistry and clutch performances throughout the season.


James Menard – KCAC Scholar-Athlete
Senior leader James Menard was honored as a KCAC Scholar-Athlete, recognizing his excellence both on the court and in the classroom. Menard went undefeated (3-0) in singles play and recorded 13 total doubles wins, most of them alongside Haoda. His leadership and composure were essential to Bethel's success during a championship-contending season.


Gabe Johnson – KCAC Coach of the Year
Gabe Johnson was named KCAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Threshers to a 16-4 overall record and a 10-1 conference finish.
