MCPHERSON, Kan. — Bethel lost to McPherson 3-0 on Thursday in a contest postponed due to the threat of weather in McPherson. The Threshers were limited to three shots, all in the second half, while their goalkeepers combined for 14 saves.
Bethel spent much of the match managing McPherson attacking stretches, including an early scoreless sequence in which McPherson took five shots and two corner kicks while the match remained level. After McPherson moved in front, the Threshers again kept the margin from changing during another stretch that included six shots and a corner kick. The same pattern carried into the second half, when Bethel held McPherson scoreless through a seven-action sequence with McPherson already ahead 2-0.
McPherson finished with 29 shots and 17 shots on goal, while Bethel put all three of its shots on frame. Threshers goalkeepers combined for 14 saves, with
Katy Stutsman making 11 saves in 68:44 and
Harley Inskeep adding three saves over 21:16.
Malayasia Larque had two of Bethel's shots on goal, and
Regina Mendoza added the other.
Up next, Bethel travels to Wichita, Kan., to face Friends on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 PM.
