WINFIELD, Kan. — Bethel lost to Southwestern 1-0 on Saturday. Despite a strong defensive effort, Bethel was unable to put enough pressure on the offensive end to level the match after Southwestern's first-half goal.
With Southwestern holding a 1-0 lead in the second half, Bethel kept the match within reach through two extended stretches without conceding again. Bethel first got through a sequence that included five Southwestern shots, then later withstood another run of eight shots and two corner kicks while the score remained unchanged. Those stretches accounted for much of the match's late shape, as Bethel stayed within one goal despite repeated Southwestern attempts.
Southwestern finished with 21 shots, including nine on goal, while Bethel was limited to one shot and did not put an attempt on frame.
Harley Inskeep handled the goalkeeping work for Bethel, recording seven saves in 90 minutes.
Adrianna Garcia had Bethel's shot, and the team also finished with one defensive save.
Up next, the Threshers travel to Sterling, Kan. on Monday, Oct. 5 to take on the Warriors in a rescheduled contest with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM.
