STERLING, Kan. — The Bethel College men's basketball team turned in a historic shooting performance Wednesday night, knocking off Sterling 99–72 at the Gleason Center. The win lifts the Threshers to 17–6 overall and 12–5 in KCAC play, keeping Bethel solidly in fourth place in the conference standings.
Bethel put on a perimeter clinic from start to finish, knocking down 21 three-pointers, setting a new single-game school record for made threes. The Threshers shot 56.8 percent from beyond the arc, connecting from deep in both halves and stretching the game open early.
The shooting barrage began right away, as Bethel hit 11 threes in the first half to build a 45–37 halftime lead, then added 10 more triples after the break while pulling away decisively. The Threshers finished the night shooting 54.8 percent overall, turning ball movement into open looks all night long.
Trenton Patterson led the charge with 20 points, going 6-of-9 from three-point range, while Dominick Harris added 15 points, hitting five triples of his own. Drew Rodriguez provided a huge spark off the bench, pouring in 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from deep, and Carmelo Yakubu chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists to anchor the offense.
Bethel's depth was on full display, as the Threshers finished with 38 bench points and had seven different players knock down at least one three-pointer. Defensively, Bethel forced 18 turnovers and turned those into 21 points, helping maintain momentum throughout the night.
