WINFIELD, Kan. — Bethel College Flag Football dropped a road matchup to Southwestern College on Monday afternoon, falling 33-0 at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
Bethel struggled to find rhythm offensively against a strong Southwestern defense, finishing with 79 total yards on 40 plays while facing consistent pressure throughout the contest.
Defensively, Bethel showed flashes, particularly in the first half. The Threshers limited Southwestern early before two second-quarter touchdown passes from Kennedi Hayes gave the Moundbuilders a 12-0 lead at the break.
Bethel's defense continued to compete in the third quarter, highlighted by an interception from Sarah Contreras and another takeaway from Kyndall Longman. Contreras also led the Threshers with six total tackles, while Jewel Kerr added five stops.
Offensively, C.J. Bundy led Bethel on the ground with 30 rushing yards, while Jewel Kerr paced the receiving group with four catches for 31 yards. Despite controlling possession for over 32 minutes, Bethel was unable to convert drives into points.
Southwestern pulled away in the second half, adding a long touchdown pass late in the third quarter before capitalizing on special teams and defensive scores in the fourth to seal the 33-0 final.
