Sterling, Kan. — Bethel College tennis put together a statement day on Tuesday, sweeping Sterling College on both the men's and women's sides in commanding 7-0 victories. With the wins, the both men's and women's tennis remain unbeaten in KCAC play, as the men improve to 6-3 overall (2-0 KCAC) and the women move to 7-1 overall (2-0 KCAC).
Men's Tennis Rolls to 7-0 Victory
In doubles, the Threshers set the tone early, sweeping all three courts. The duo of Zaidh Zihar and Petr Kollar led the way at No. 1 with a 6-2 win, while Jorge Batista and Billy Haoda secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2. Jonah Bergeron and Adam Tomka completed the doubles sweep with a dominant 6-0 performance at No. 3.
Singles play continued the momentum. Kollar, Haoda, Rodrigo Sanchez, Zihar, and Tomka each picked up straight-set wins. At the top spot, Batista battled after dropping the first set to rally for a three-set victory at No. 1 singles winning the super tiebreak, 10-8.
Women's Tennis Dominates in 7-0 Sweep
Doubles play saw Bethel claim the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Daniela Casique and Sara Ladino earned a 6-3 win at the top spot, while Grace Dawes and Kate Rowland followed with a 6-4 victory.
In singles, the Threshers were nearly flawless. Casique, Ximena Raya, Patty Huerta, and Jireh Gonzalez all cruised to straight-set victories, each allowing two games or fewer in at least one set.
