NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel College Flag Football opened its 2026 season Saturday against Cottey, falling 47-0 in the seaosn opener.
The Threshers battled early, highlighted by a first-quarter interception from Nevaeh Gonzales to halt Cottey's opening drive. Jewel Kerr provided a spark on the ground, rushing for 33 yards, including a 28-yard burst that marked Bethel's longest play of the afternoon.
Kyndall Longman and Gonzales split time at quarterback, while Sarah Contreras recorded a team-high four tackles on the defensive side. Despite the final score, Bethel continued to compete through all four quarters in its first outing of the year.
The Threshers will look to regroup quickly as they travel to Ottawa on Wednesday for their next matchup.
